A Thank You From the Editor
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I cannot express how thankful I am to have been involved in and lead the team at The Talon for the past year. I have loved being able to communicate the culture of our campus through an online and some in print format.
Vaccines and Autism
Parents want the best for their children, but sometimes what they perceive to be the best is actually detrimental not only to their children, but to their entire community. Such was the case in January this year, just north of Portland, Oregon, where a measles outbreak occurred as a result of low vaccination rates.
Junior Senior Banquet 2019
Junior Senior Banquet is a special time to honor upperclassmen, and offers one more time for seniors to dress to the nines before graduation. This year, the banquet was held on April 27th at The Cotton Mill Event Venue in Jefferson, Georgia.
Mr. TFC 2019
Mr. TFC is a renowned event that has been happening time out of mind. This year, the golden tradition took place on April 16th in the Woerner Missions Building and was put on by the SGA Campus Life committee.

Christmas Traditions
Thanksgiving has past, which means it is time to celebrate Christmas! We asked a few students on campus about their favorite Christmas memories or traditions. Check out their answers below, and be sure to turn up that Christmas music.
Why Turkey Makes You Tired
It is a common old wives’ tale that turkey makes you tired. Somehow, it seems that your Thanksgiving dinner will put you in a turkey coma. While many tales such as this are not true, there is some truth behind this one.
People of TFC: Talia Hatch
This month, we sat down with Talia Hatch to get to know her, and talk about her part in building the community here at TFC. Talia Hatch is a Junior this year, and is majoring in Cross Cultural Studies.
Pop-Tarts, Ramen, and Cookie-Dough
Pop-tarts, Ramen, and Cookie-dough; sounds like a typical meal to most college students. While there is nothing wrong with any of these things in moderation, using these products, and products like these, on an everyday basis will not have a beneficial impact in the long run.
How to Track a Hurricane
Last year, classes were canceled in response to the storm, but this year the predictions of the hurricane were never realized for the Toccoa area. This leaves us with the question: why were the forecasts for Hurricane Florence so far off?
New Year, New Talon!
Among all the changes on campus, The Talon also has a major change with a new editor. Last year’s editor, Nicole Petraglia, graduated this spring with a degree in Communication. Following in her footsteps is Amber Murphey as the editor for the 2018-2019 year.
Science for Dummies
Have you ever wondered why a glue stick does not dry out in the bottle, or how a rainbow is formed? Questions like this can be easily answered by science, but science is often a scary subject for some people.
People of TFC: Andrew Cowart
Here at the Talon, we wanted to highlight a few of the students at TFC that help make the community what it is. For our second article in our series, we sat down with Andrew Cowart to get to know him and his take on the community here at TFC.
Finding Healthy Options in the Dorm
Coffee, soda, Ramen, and Pop Tarts. Sound familiar? While having something easy to grab can be nice on those day where you do not have time to run to the cafeteria, or late at night when you need a study break, eating junk food will wear down your body.
The Effect of Music on Heart Rate
To test which types of music could be used for heartrate suppression or stimulation, three TFC students performed a test in which a select number of students at Toccoa Falls College were tested for heart rate in response to a certain genre of music.
People of TFC: Katherine Clair
Katherine Clair is a sophomore in counseling and psychology at TFC. She is from Augusta, Georgia and is the youngest of five sisters. She loves people and showing love to those around her in service.
Creation Care & the Kokua Conservation Club
A few weeks ago we sat down with Molly Sharpe, the president and creator of the Kokua Conservation club (Kokua is Hawaiin for "mutual assistance" or "pitching in"), to chat with her about creation care on campus and real things we as a community, and as individuals, can do to help care for the environment.
Toccoa Falls Flood: A Time to Remember
November 6th, 1977. A day that went down in history, both nationally and locally for Toccoa Falls College. All was quiet on TFC’s campus when a dam at the top of the falls holding back 176 million gallons of dirty water broke and the wave overtook campus.
Beauty & Destruction - A Personal Reflection on Irma and the Eclipse
This year Toccoa Falls College experienced two of God’s great wonders: the solar eclipse and hurricane Irma.. The sun went dark and the rain turned sideways. As I was watching both events happen before my eyes I could not help but think of two contrasting ideas: beauty and destruction.
