People of TFC: Katherine Clair

Katherine Clair is a sophomore in counseling and psychology at TFC. She is from Augusta, Georgia and is the youngest of five sisters. She loves people and showing love to those around her in service. She is currently involved in the Campus Life committee in the Student Government Association, and is also the prayer coordinator for the Student Mission Fellowship on campus. She is a friendly face to everyone on campus, and an all-round joy to be around.

On SGA & SMF:

“On Campus Life I learned how to serve others, by planning fun events and working with great people and a great leader. I learned responsibility to complete the tasks that I’ve been delegated. On SMF council, I have really been able to find a family that I can have fun with, but also really connect with, and grow with in the Lord. They have definitely helped me to be a better leader, to learn how to do things unto the Lord. With my position on SMF council, I have learned a lot about prayer, and how it has to be to and for the Lord. I am a person that likes pretty words, but in prayer, that is not important. It is about speaking your requests unto God, and knowing He will hear you. It is not for others to hear and think well of you; it is to speak the desires of your heart to God.”

On Community:

“At the beginning of this semester, Fant had an event where we went into the prayer room on Fant 2, and prayed about the semester, each other, and ourselves. It was really cool just to be able to pray out loud about my fears, hopes, and the girls that were around me. I realized just how deep sisterhood in Christ ran, and how important it is to really make Jesus the beginning of everything. It was really cool to be able to do that as a community. The people here are just so loving and caring. For example, I will wave at people that I don’t even know and they will wave back, and that makes me want to get to know them. It is just really encouraging. Even this past semester, I have realized that people are just really cool. People here are always getting down to pray with and for you. Everyone here is just striving for the Lord.”

On Being Remembered:

“I want to be remembered for loving people like Jesus loves them, giving them a glimpse of what that would be like on earth. By loving other people like Jesus loves them, it puts things into perspective for me. I love loving on other people, and seeing that as a gift from God and not just to build myself up. It takes me out of the equation, and makes me view myself as a tool in God’s hands instead viewing myself as good apart from His grace.”

On the Future:

“Hopefully I will go to grad school to get my masters in social work, and from there I hope to work in DFCS (Department of Family and Children Services) helping children and families. I have always wanted to help children since I was little. I realize that DFCS is a really hard job to do, but if I can bring the light of Jesus and joy to my coworkers, or the families and children I’m helping, then it will be worth it. I just want to make a difference no matter how small.”
