This annual event consisted of a night filled with Christmas music, laughter, and never-ending strands of red and green paper chains. While many of the decorations were made beforehand, there were still others, like fake Christmas presents, that needed to be wrapped.

However, cardboard boxes were not the only items that were covered in the festive paper. The counters and cabinets were skillfully covered as well. Each cabinet door was individually wrapped and every opening was measured down to the inch as if they were presents themselves.

In the cafeteria, long red and green paper chains were draped high above the tables, giving the room a more festive feel. Hand-made paper ornaments were hung on the lower ceilings to match.

Several SGA members also cut out letters to spell out “Merry Christmas.” Using a wide variety of art supplies, they uniquely decorated the letters, giving each of them their own personal style. The artists’ finished artwork is hung on a few of the walls in the room.

Fake snow lightly rests on various ledges and countertops to incorporate a winter wonderland atmosphere. As a personal touch, some of the stockings decorated by SGA members hang on the support beams around the room.

One by one, Christmas trees were put together and placed in different areas of the Student Center. Each one is decorated with lights and a variety of ornaments. The twelve-foot tree, which is the biggest tree in the building, has an unusual but fitting tree topper this year: a stuffed eagle.

In the Student Center lobby, snowflakes hang down from above as if it were snowing. White and blue paper chains are draped from the ceilings, emphasizing the snowy feel of the lobby. To further the effect, there are snowflakes hanging from the walls as well.

Each tree in the lobby is decorated with blue and silver ornaments. Fake snow can also be found on the trees. Underneath every tree, there are a few beautifully wrapped gifts waiting to be opened.

In Odyssey Coffee Shop, the decorations continue. Fake snow sits atop the bar that runs along one of the walls. A hand-painted fireplace beside one of the larger seating areas turns the room into a little home. Hanging from the fake mantle and the front counter are more of the stockings SGA members personalized.

Lining the windows and bookshelves are strands of colorful lights, adding a festive twist. On the platform towards the front of the room, another beautifully decorated Christmas tree with presents underneath ties the rest of the room together.

After a long night of festive fun and light detangling, the Student Center is finally complete and ready for the holiday season!

“The night was fantastic,” says SGA Vice President Jacob Hunt. “The end result was beyond anything I pictured, and I think everyone had such a great time.”

Thanks to SGA’s time and dedication, the Christmas season has officially begun at TFC!
