Fun Adventure Spots Near TFC
Weekends are the perfect time to take a break from all the hustle and bustle of college life. Within just minutes of the Toccoa Falls College campus, there are adventures awaiting! Whether you are looking for a quick getaway or a full day of fun, here are 5 things to explore near TFC.
Currahee Mountain Trail (Toccoa, Ga.)
Three miles up then back down, Currahee offers beautiful views overlooking Toccoa and Stephens County. You can hike, bike, or drive to the top. On your way up, there are many trails to explore that branch off the main road. At the top of the mountain, there are three different outlooks for you to enjoy miles of scenery. Currahee is only 15 minutes from TFC, and it’s free!
Note: If you drive up, make sure your car can handle rough terrain.
Broken Bridges (Oconee County, S.C./Stephens County, Ga.)
Only around 20 minutes away from TFC, Broken Bridges is located along a branch of Lake Hartwell. The bridge used to connect Georgia to South Carolina. Broken Bridges is the perfect spot to take cool pictures, go for a swim (only on the S.C. side) or watch the sunset over the lake. Make sure to bring a friend because Broken Bridges is in a more secluded area of Stephens County!
Tugaloo State Park (Lavonia, Ga.)
Located about 30 minutes away from TFC in Lavonia, Tugaloo State Park borders Lake Hartwell. Within the park there is a swimming beach, as well as picnic tables, camping spots, 4 miles of hiking trails and plenty of space to fish or kayak. You can rent canoes and kayaks, and the park has a volleyball and tennis court. There is a small $5 parking fee for visitors.
Frady Branch Trail System (Toccoa, Ga.)
With almost 15 miles of trails, Frady Branch Trail System is open year round from sunrise to sunset. The trails are accessible to bikers, hikers, and horseback riders. There are four different loops: Pear Orchard Loop, Lathan Cemetery Loop, Franch Branch Loop and Leatherwood Creek Loop. There are streams and some hidden gems along the trails such as historical sites. If you love nature, this is for you. There is a $5 day use fee for visitors.
Jaemor Farms (Alto, Ga.)
Just 30 minutes away from TFC, Jaemor Farms is a family-owned farm established in 1912 that offers a wide variety of fun. Depending on the season, Jaemor offers many different activities. During autumn, Jaemor Farms offers a pumpkin patch, corn maze and many other fun on-site activities. Other seasonal activities include U-pick peaches, U-pick strawberries, U-pick wildflowers and date night on the farm. They also have a store where you can buy fresh produce, sweets and farm products.
