TFC Gaming Club Presents “Jacob Egg Hunt”

For the third year in a row, the TFC Gaming Club hosted an all-campus egg hunt to kick off Easter weekend, this time with a twist. The hunt took place across campus Tuesday, April 4, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. as students scurried to earn prizes for finding eggs and the Easter bunny.

To kick things off, the Student Government Association sent an email to the student body at 9 a.m. listing the rules of the egg hunt. Students were encouraged to collect as many eggs as they could, which were hidden all across campus. Some of the eggs were even kept by the dining hall and Eagles Nest employees, who only gave them to egg-hunters if they said certain code words! From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Gaming Club had a table set out in the Student Center, where President Tiffany Franklin and her assistant collected eggs and displayed prizes. Eggs could be turned in for these prizes which included candy, grocery items, and stuffed animal plushies.

For the first time ever, the annual egg hunt featured the Easter bunny in a mid-hunt twist titled “The Jacob Egg Hunt!” At 1 p.m., SGA Vice President Jacob Hunt threw on a pair of bunny ears and ran around campus! SGA sent out another email declaring the “new challenge” and explaining that students could (safely) catch Hunt for the grand prize.

Franklin said the mission statement of the Gaming Club is “building Christian character through competitive and laid-back fun,” which is the same goal of the egg hunt. According to Franklin, the event did very well and many students participated. She said the egg hunt has had a positive outcome in past years and will be an annual event because of its campus-wide success.

Tiffany Franklin has been the Gaming Club president since Fall 2022. She has been planning for the egg hunt since December of 2022 and was looking forward to making it happen. “As president, I’ve been wanting to bring back nostalgia that we’ve experienced over the years,” Franklin said. “We’re adults but we can still have fun like we did as kids, and I love that nostalgic aspect of the egg hunt. That was another goal: To bring out those childhood memories.”
