Odyssey Coffeehouse, Make Your Mom Proud & Take Me Out to the Movies

“This is supposed to be a soft opening, but everyone is talking!” - Luci Hodges.

Coffee By The Pound, TFC's student run coffee shop, is a part of the history of Toccoa Falls College and will not be forgotten. This coffee shop shut its doors in 2016, and since then, TFC has not been the same. However, during the Spring of 2017, student's voices were heard. As students gathered in the dining hall, Toccoa Falls College President, Dr. Robert Myers, revealed that our campus will soon be graced by another coffee shop. The soft opening of this new coffee shop, Odyssey Coffee House, was held on Friday, April 27th.

Student Government Association was proud to unveil what they, along with various TFC students, have been working on all year. Sophomore Kelsey Edmonds said, “The thing I am looking forward to the most is the power of community and breaking the walls between cliques to where it is no longer your squad vs. my squad, but our squad.” TFC is passionate about the language they have used in calling this a coffee house rather than a coffee shop in order to create a place of community and joy.

Fast Forward to later that same night in the carport of Tyler cottage the “Make Mom Proud” event was put on by Anna Gonzalez, Clavicle, Logan Prikle and Thomas Channel. These four artists turned up the volume with their original music and brought another time of community building to TFC. The artists were astounded by the love and support they received from the family of TFC. You can follow, band, Clavicle at @wehaveclaviclesatl

A third event took place at Toccoa Falls College on April 27th. Take Me Out to the Movies, a Terrace Residence Life event, took place at the pavilion by the baseball field at 7:15 pm. Lawn games were played, treats were snacked on, and The Greatest Showman was watched.

All three of these events were filled with laughter and love as the campus of Toccoa Falls College came together to display the many talents and meet the various interests of the students on this amazing campus.
