Forrest Olympics 2022: Part Two

2A takes the win after creating a Lowe’s-themed hall.

Week Two of the Forrest Olympics saw increased competition among the halls.

Following “Flap Jack Stack Attack,” the “Ping Pong/2K/Smash” event consisted of three individual tournaments: ping pong, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, and 2K.

For the ping pong tournament, two halls played each other in a game of ping pong. The winner was to play other winning halls until one winner was determined. 2A took First Place, 2B took Second, and 1C took Third.

In the Super Smash Bros Ultimate tournament, each hall presented a team of two people. Similar to the ping pong tournament, winning halls would continue to play until there was a final winner. For Super Smash Bros Ultimate, 2A came in First Place, 2B came in Second Place, and 3C came in Third Place.

In the 2K tournament, halls were allowed to have up to two men playing on their behalf at different times. Like the other two tournaments, each winner would continue playing the other winners until they lost. 3B took First and Second Place, while 1B took Third and Fourth Place.

The Olympics’ fifth event, “Themed Open Halls,”  gave each hall an opportunity to show their creativity. After choosing a theme, the men decorated their hall and themselves accordingly. Individuals from the Terraces, Fant, and LeTourneau were given the opportunity to visit and interact with each hall before deciding which one they wanted to win. Four halls participated, giving visitors the opportunity to vote on the following themes: Wild West (aka Sarsaparilla Springs), Lord of the Rings, Zombie Nerf, and Lowe’s.

Jacob Head, resident of 1B, proudly protects their Wild West-themed hall from ill-intentioned visitors.

Once again, 2A found themselves in First Place with their Lowe’s-themed hall. 1B took Second Place with their Wild West-themed hall, Third Place was 3C with their Zombie Nerf-themed hall, and 3B took Fourth with their Lord of the Rings-themed hall.

Forrest’s next event was “Epic.” Similar to the well-known game “Capture the Flag,” “Epic” is played on a big field, and two teams try to defend their side by tagging opponents who cross over to their side. Each team defends five different kinds of goals while also attempting to cross their opponent’s side and throw different types of balls into their goals to receive points. The points are based on the type of ball thrown into the goal and the type of goal in which they throw it. Whichever team has the most points at the end of the game wins.

1B found themselves in First Place. 3B followed in Second Place, while 2B and 1C tied for Third Place.

The overall standings following these events are as listed:

·         First: 2A

·         Second: 1B

·         Third: 3B

·         Fourth: 2B

·         Fifth: 1C

·         Seventh: 3C

After these events, the Forrest Olympics is drawing to a close. Look out for an upcoming article covering the final event, where 2A and 1B will compete head-to-head to determine the winner of the 2022 Forrest Olympics and have their name listed on the bust of Richard A. Forrest.
