Toccoa Falls College 2017 Homecoming Weekend
Out of all of the events on campus, Homecoming is one of the most anticipated. Homecoming is an anxiously awaited weekend, where students can enjoy socializing with each other, and get to know alumni. Thankfully, it is just around the corner! This year, homecoming weekend is October 6th and 7th, and the calendar is loaded with fun events for students, faculty, and alumni that you do not want to miss.
When asked what their favorite thing about homecoming is, several students shared excited responses. Hudson Allen, TFC Freshman, is looking most forward to “the homecoming game. It will be fun to watch, and to see who will get nominated for homecoming court.” Sophomore,Yuri Howard, is most excited about both Space Jam and Sweets & Treats. TFC Junior, Jennie Griner, said that she “really enjoys the Sweets & Treats after the game, because it is a great way for current students and alumni to meet each other and fellowship as one.” TFC class of 2015 graduate, and 2014 - 2015 homecoming queen, Katie Thorne stated that her favorite thing about homecoming is “the atmosphere on campus- as an alumni, the title of the weekend is aptly named because it feels just like coming home- being welcomed back, a sense of fierce belonging.”
Homecoming weekend evokes a sweet sentimentality for both student and alumni as past memories are remembered and new ones are made. One special aspect of homecoming is the nomination of the homecoming queen. This year’s homecoming court consist of Madison Smith (Freshman), Katherine Clair (Sophomore), Jennie Griner (Junior), and seniors Keojah McBryde, Emily Jury, and Emily Truelove. Be sure to cast your vote for homecoming queen this week (October 1-6) in the Student Center from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The announcement of TFC’s 2017 queen will take place during the alumni basketball game on October 7th at 7:30 p.m. You will want to be there! After the queen is announced, Space Jam begins. This event is hosted by Campus Life, and will be held in Forrest Lobby. Starting at 9 p.m., this event will be a blast. There will be food, and lots of fun. Bring a friend, and dress brightly.

Homecoming is a very exciting time and is a great chance for students to relax, refuel, and destress from midterm week. Celebrating Toccoa Falls College, meeting past graduates, and honoring those who have made our college great are some of the reasons homecoming weekend is a most special time. What a refreshing thing to come together as a community, where current, former, and future students can come together to celebrate Toccoa Falls College. Happy Homecoming weekend!
