The Easter Celebration

He is risen! “…but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?” (Luke 24:5)

The final week of the Lenten Journey is here, and as our journey comes to an end, we want to remember and celebrate the event that changed human history forever: the resurrection of Jesus Christ! This major historic event is at the heart of Christian faith. The fact that Jesus is alive is what gives us the hope of having a life free of sin and death. When Jesus rose, he defeated sin and death. Thanks to his sacrifice, humanity's debt to sin was paid with his blood; and now everyone that believes in him, accepts him as Lord and Savior, and follows him, is cleaned by his blood and forgiven of all sin.

This is a huge deal, because before Jesus resurrection, humanity had fallen short of God's glory and was condemn to eternal death. Only after his resurrection was an opportunity to be free of that condemnation given to us. When we believe in Jesus and receive His salvation, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit and freed of the slavery of sin. Not only that, but through Jesus, we can draw near to God and have a relationship with him. We also have the promise of an eternal life beside our God if we believe in Jesus and follow him.

So, Jesus's death and resurrection gave us freedom from sin and death, restored our relationship with God, and gives us eternal life. This is the most important reason to be thankful to our Lord Jesus! He gave us so much even when we gave so little to him. Even though we don't deserve it, he died for us to save us, because he loves us. That is why we should celebrate and worship our God every day with all our heart, living a holy life and having communion and a relationship with him in prayer and in studying the Scripture.

If you feel like your relationship with God is broken, or that you are not as close to him as you want to be, this is the perfect week to meet with your Savior. Do not let this week be just another week. Instead, use this week to get close to the Lord and know him. Dare yourself to deepen your relationship with your Lord, deepen your relationship with the Holy Spirit, and commit yourself to God. Separate yourself for God and dare to live in holiness. Leave behind the things that are restraining your relationship with him and accept his calling whole-heartedly. Make him your priority and give him the first place in your life and he will take care of everything else for you. Do not let the delights of this world enslave you; decide to be different, decide to be light in the darkness. Draw to your God and rejoice in his salvation. Enjoy the life your Lord has given you!
