TFC Health Fair
Health is an important aspect of our lives. Sometimes the lack of good health prevents us from participating in certain activities. As college students, our health can influence our learning and academic performance in positive or negative ways. Therefore, it is necessary to take care of our bodies. Sometimes, this can be complicated due to lack of time, medical insurance, or health expenses. If any of these things are preventing you from accessing medical care, this article is for you.
On February 14, the Student Wellness Center held a health fair. In this fair, students had the opportunity to participate in different demonstrations, including how to wash their hands correctly. They were also oriented on how to improve their health, as well as where they can receive the different health services offered in Toccoa. Some of the services that can be accessed in the city of Toccoa are immunizations, mammograms, prenatal care, cancer screening, testing and screening of communicable diseases such as HIV and tuberculosis, and many other services. All of them are offered by the Stephens County Health Department at a low cost to people without health insurance or limited financial resources.
You can also access skin care at the Anderson Skin and Cancer Clinic, vision care at the Stephens County Eye Clinic, and dental care at Lowery Dental. In case of an emergency, you can visit Urgent Med Toccoa and have access to treatment for minor illness, injuries, and infections. You can also receive laboratory tests, screening, monitoring, and other procedures. If you need a medical consultation, you can visit them for thirty-five dollars without an appointment. For those who practice sports, you can get your sport physical exam at Urgent Med Toccoa for twenty-five dollars. If you have an injury or a fracture, you can visit the Northeast Georgia Physicians Group for orthopedic surgeries or sports related medical treatment.
All the health care centers mentioned above are in the city of Toccoa, so you have access to them at any time you need without having to worry about the distance. All centers offer services for those who do not have medical insurance or with scarce financial resources. This means you can visit them whenever you want if you have financial needs. Remember, being healthy is important to your success as a college student. If you need medical care, do not be afraid to visit a medical center. You can also visit the Student Wellness Center and have access to counseling, the nurse, and information about the health services that Toccoa Falls College offers its students.
