ResLife Welcomes Harrison, Maxwell to Forrest

Sophomores Cyrus Harrison and Gavin Maxwell have been selected to serve Forrest Hall as Resident Assistants for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year. Harrison and Maxwell will be serving the guys of 2A and 2B, respectively.

Moving into a new environment can be especially tough for freshman and transfer students. Maxwell has several ideas to help create bonds with new Forrest residents. There will be plenty of opportunities for new residents to not only get to know Maxwell, but the Toccoa Falls College campus and community, as a whole. “I hope to connect with my residents through events I throw in my hall, such as watching UGA football games, overnight retreats, hiking, as well as fishing trips,” he said.

Harrison hopes to make meaningful connections with the men of 2A.

Harrison hopes that his residents will see him as a listening ear. “I hope to connect with them to a point where they feel comfortable enough sharing their biggest hardships and reach an area where they’ll be able to feel less stress around Forrest and on the hall,” he said. He understands that stress plays a significant role in the daily lives of college students. “[It] can truly change how they are around campus and in their classes,” Harrison said. He wants to host hall events that will help him to connect with students and introduce them to different activities.

Harrison also wants his residents to recognize his unwavering commitment to making their experience on 2A a success. “I hope they understand that I am not at all perfect. I make mistakes every now and then and won’t be able to fulfill every need, but I would like to at least be a helping hand for each and every single one of them, and I will help to the best of my ability,” he said.

Harrison’s mother has played a significant role in his journey to becoming an RA. “She always mentioned how socialization, the role itself and even the challenges will help build myself and my character throughout my years here,” he said.

Maxwell is excited to lead the men of 2B next year.

Maxwell credits RAs like Zach Garcia and Alec Perrotto who have made an impact on his life during his freshman and sophomore years on campus. He wishes to follow in their footsteps. “The main thing that inspired me to become an RA is the fact that I will be a leader to these men,” Maxwell said.

Maxwell plays for Toccoa Falls College’s baseball team and would love for his residents to come out and see him in action next spring!
