Eagle Radio’s Mighty Push

As students of Toccoa Falls College, some of you may have noticed flyers posted around campus promoting the Eagle Radio. Yes, we do have a student radio here at TFC. In fact, the radio has actually been airing for almost two decades now, facing many changes, songs, and talk shows. Possibly the most major change happened in 2017, when Bandy Hall, the old radio building, was torn down. Apparently, after “His Radio” bought out the radio channel, FM 89.7, Dr. Curt Wanner decided to have people stream online radio from the TFC website. The radio is still alive and well and you can contribute if you want.

Like other radio stations, Eagle radio has a library of songs played to help listeners pass the time. All songs are from Christian artists. Their main draw, however, are their talk shows. The shows are led by students and cover a wide range of themes and topics. For example, Alex Hurtseller’s Theological/Philosophical ramblings can be heard on “I Want to Believe," Caroline Miller, Savanah Williams, and Charity Speed talk hot topics on “Girl’s Night,” pop culture is discussed by Xavier Martin and Dan Hartranft on “Soda Pop,” or listeners can catch Seth VanHorn and Will Enloe's casual show “Getting Intimate with Seth and Will.” The radio has plenty of variety. Check the schedule online to see when shows are playing here: http://tfceagleradio.wixsite.com/radio/s-h-o-w-s

Whether students need SAO credit, are solely interested in radio, have/don't have experience or pitch a show to them, Eagle Radio is always open to volunteers. Right now Eagle radio is looking for students to help DJ (they are currently using an automatic one) as well as volunteers for a philosophy debate show.

“We welcome any constructive criticism anyone may have. If anyone has suggestions, or just problems with how we do something, we want your feedback always. For this type of thing, we would encourage you to email our fan mail account which is: tfceagleradio@gmail.com for things like interest in joining us or learning more information about how you can get involved we encourage you to reach out to eagleradio@tfc.edu.” (Savanna Smith, current manager of the radio)
