Bowen-Bailey Interview
If you have ever enjoyed an event on campus, chances are the Student Government Association (SGA), consisting of different leaders and committees, had something to with it. It takes a big group of people to make things happen. That being said, every year the TFC student body elects a new SGA president and vice president. For the upcoming 2018-2019 school year, Tristan Bowen and Jacqueline Bailey were elected.
Future SGA president Tristan Bowen is currently wrapping up his junior year. Now twenty, he grew up in Macon, GA with his parents and older sister. Tristan is earning his degree in Biology, and he hopes to do something in the medical field after graduating. When he is not busy with school, friends or family, Tristan loves doing things outdoors; he also has a pet turtle name Coastin.
Regarding being SGA president, Tristan says that he is most excited about being someone to look up to on campus and is hoping to be a sort of mentor. When asked why he wanted to run for president, Tristan explained that TFC, and the people here, have taught him so much in every aspect of his life that he wants to give back, get involved, and help others come to love TFC as much as he does.
Like Tristan, Jacqueline Bailey is finishing up her junior year. She is twenty-one, and grew up in Augusta, GA with her parents and younger brother and sister. Jacqueline is not only majoring in Business Administration but also Bible and Theology. After graduation, she would like to go to law school to potentially study international law. She also loves history - especially anything to do with Abraham Lincoln. In her free time, Jacqueline enjoys singing and painting nails.
When it comes to being the vice president of the SGA, Jacqueline says that she is most excited about being involved in all the different events and activities, as well as all the logistics that go into them. When asked why she wanted to run for vice president, she said that when her friend Shelby Hinson became vice president, she got an up close look at what the job is like, and it stood out as something that she would do well at and enjoy.
The work that the SGA does is time consuming and hard, and we are pumped to see what Tristan and Jacqueline will bring to campus next Fall. TFC is both blessed and excited to have them. While it is sad to see Seth VanHorn and Shelby Hinson go, we are confident in all that Tristan Bowen and Jacqueline have planned for the 2018-2019 school year.
