2021 Student Ministries

Are you searching for a way to become plugged into the community outside of TFC? Need to earn SAO credits? Then look no farther than the ministries that TFC proudly encourages and supports.

Lighthouse Outreach has two primary goals: sharing the light of Christ through charitable works in the community of Toccoa and teaching people to have one-on-one conversations that will lead people towards Christ. Throughout the semester, this ministry offers two different events: outreach and fundraisers. Outreach is their primary event. They make food for the hungry and homeless and distribute it throughout the local communities. Additionally, they use fundraisers to raise money and bring awareness to the ministry.

Every Friday around 5:00 p.m., Atlanta Outreach leaves TFC to serve the marginalized and oppressed in Atlanta, Georgia. Their first stop is El Bosque, which is a Central American immigrant community. While they are here, they hand out food, clothes, hygiene kits, school supplies, and pet food. They also build relationships with the people living in that area, especially with the children. Co-president Jormary Torres translates so the group can pray and share the love of Christ in the community’s first language. Next, Atlanta Outreach visits Little Five Points. While there, they hand out hygiene kits and blankets to the homeless. The team also talks and prays with those living in the area since they are often ignored. Being a part of this ministry is a huge commitment, but it is worth every second.

Clarkston Refugee Ministry takes a trip to Clarkston once a month. They work with Envision Atlanta, as well as other programs, to help clean up Clarkston and work on their urban farm. Each trip begins with everyone meeting in the Student Center at TFC. At 8:00 a.m., the group starts their hour and a half trip to Clarkston. Once there, their day splits into two parts: before lunch and after lunch. On city cleanup days, they go to specific areas with Envision Atlanta to help pick up trash. While working at the farm, they do a great deal of manual labor. On back-to-school days, they sort backpacks and other school supplies in a warehouse. They also build relationships with the kids that live nearby by playing and spending time with them. “If you want the opportunity to step out of the TFC bubble and serve in a different context and have a cross-cultural experience, then Clarkston Refugee Ministry is for you,” said Clarkston Refugee Ministry President Alec Perrotto.

Lighthouse Outreach, Atlanta Outreach, and Clarkston Refugee Ministry can all be used to fulfill SAO credits. If you are interested in working with one of these ministries, follow @tfc_clubs on Instagram to stay updated on upcoming events and trips.
