Your 2019 SGA Presidential Election Winners

The Student Government Association, better known as SGA, is at the heart of the student body. SGA is responsible for many of the things that go on around campus, and is over all of the campus' clubs and committees. SGA also gives students a voice, through the clubs, committees, and senate events. A large part of that voice is in the SGA presidential election every Spring. This year, the presidential election was March 11- March 14. The elected presidential candidates for the upcoming school year are Kelsey Edmonds and Amber Murphey.

Next year's president, Kelsey Edmonds, is currently a junior Counseling Psychology major. Edmonds’ vice president, Amber Murphey, is also a junior and is majoring in Biology. Both Kelsey and Amber have previous leadership experience, with Edmonds being the current chair of the SGA Campus Life Committee, and Murphey as a current officer in the STEM Club, and editor for The Talon.

Edmonds and Murphey are excited to be focusing on growth in the upcoming year. Their main goals are to prepare future leaders and to foster an environment in which each person feels included by making clubs more accessible. Their other top goals are bringing people together across departments and organizations and adding lights in order to make students feel safe.
