Sadie Hawkins 2019

TFC’s annual Sadie Hawkins Dance was this past Friday, March 1st! If you missed it, here is your recap:

Sadie Hawkins is a dance where the girls are encouraged to ask the guys to be their dates! This brings a fun energy to campus as girls think up creative ways to ask their boyfriends or guy friends to attend the dance with them.

This year, the Sadie Hawkins Dance, was a Silent Disco. At first, attendees were hesitant to the idea of putting on a pair of headphones and dancing to music on their own, but it turned out to be an incredible event. The event was filled with people dancing to different songs at the same time, singing out the songs as loud as their lungs would let them, and really interesting sounds if you were to temporarily remove your headphones. Everyone in attendance poured their heart and soul into the dance floor and it showed in the high-spirited energy in the room. The nerves people felt at the beginning quickly faded as the three separate playlists got further into their rotations.

The Campus Life committee executed this event extremely well as the blue and silver décor added an interesting futuristic flair to the dance. In the center of the floor was a geometric pattern that spindled outward, as if drawing people into the center, and encouraging them to dance. The hors d'oeuvres were delightful and encouraged people to eat, and then return to their dancing without making a mess. The photo booth, equipped with funny signs to hold, and silver mylar balloons that spelling out ‘SADIES’, was well frequented, and many took silly photos to commemorate their time at the dance. All-in-all TFC’s 2019 Sadie Hawkins Dance was a real hit, and those in attendance had a great time. If you missed it, you missed a great experience, but there is always next year!
