Ring by Spring?

If you’ve ever visited or lived on a Christian college campus, especially Toccoa Falls College, you’ve probably heard the phrase “ring by spring.” Urban Dictionary defines the meaning of the phrase: “Christian college kids in their senior year feel a need to get engaged before the final semester, thus ring by spring.” And if you’ve seen the bells in front of LeTourneau Hall, you’ve probably heard the superstitions. The small bell supposes that, if touched, the person will become pregnant. The larger bell supposes that, if touched, the person will marry he or she who touched it before them.

I don’t know about you, but my dad once told me that he’s sending me to college to get an academic degree, not a “MRS” degree.

Lily Cranford, The Talon’s resident comic artist, created the following strip to bring some comedic relief to the often uncomfortable situation that is “ring by spring” and the role that TFC’s infamous bells play in the narrative.
