People of TFC: Brett Warner

Brett Warner, a junior in the cross-cultural department, has been very involved on campus. From Charlotte, North Carolina, Brett is an admitted extrovert with a heart for God, people, and missions. As a random fun-fact, Brett shared that in high school, he had the opportunity to travel to Pearl Harbor to be in a Pearl Harbor Day parade with the band. While he may not be traveling to Hawaii with TFC, Brett stays busy with weekly prayer nights and worship nights, Grace Fellowship Church, SMF, and admissions.

Not only is Brett involved in weekly prayer and worship nights, but he and his friends are the hosts of the worship sessions. The gatherings began as a small group of friends worshiping together and have turned into campus-wide events. Recently, the group partnered with Grace Fellowship Church to host an all-night worship night, full of prayers and praises.

Student Mission Fellowship, or SMF, is another thing that Brett is very involved in, as he is the vice president. A campus-wide ministry, Wednesday nights are full of prayer, worship, and students looking to learn more about missions. One of the more important aspects for Brett is the relationships that he has the opportunity to build with the rest of the SMF council, as well as with the international workers in residence.

As a whole, Brett shared that his expectations for TFC have been "blown away," especially in terms of the people. Brett feels as though he has grown a lot since coming to TFC, and that his extra curriculars have helped with that. With admissions for example, Brett feels like he has gained a bigger perspective on the behind-the-scenes details and what students are going through. More than anything though, Brett credits the TFC community with the majority of his spiritual growth, explaining that "it's been refreshing [to be] where most people have a desire to grow their relationship with God, and be around that influence."
