2023 TFC Campus Improvements and Renovations

The 2023 fall semester at Toccoa Falls College is in full swing and changes and improvements have been made in many different areas and facets of campus.

Roads have been repaved, furniture has been replaced, and residence halls have been undergoing renovations. These renovations have provided students with further opportunities for relationship and community building within the 1,100 acres of campus.

The campus-wide renovations and improvements started in June, beginning with the repaving of Damron, Bandy and Forrest Drives. These roads and parking lots are near class buildings.

Every terrace received new furniture for their common areas. The need for new terrace furniture was prompted by the addition of two new terraces for male students. Kyle Bennett, Assistant Resident Director for the Terraces, informed the Talon that new couches and side tables were moved into each terrace one week prior to the start of the fall semester. This project was completed over the course of three days by the ARDs and members of the TFC men's soccer team. The volunteer movers endured scorching weather conditions to complete this project. Old terrace furniture was discarded or repurposed. The Student Center Lobby received a couple of repurposed couches which are now being used quite frequently.

At the beginning of the year, TFC’s President, Robert “Bob” Meyers, announced the Transform Student Lives Campaign in an official video where he encouraged donors to “make the lives of students better” by funding substantial renovations of Forrest Hall. This campaign, Meyers explains in his announcement video, is based on the “encouraging” words of Isaiah 43:19: “For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?”

The campaign’s mission is to improve campus life by making Forrest Hall a beautiful, fun, and functional place for students to live. The three-year renovation project, which with donor support, will ensure that each ‘wing’ of Forrest Hall will be remodeled each year until completion. This process began at the beginning of July with the addition of storm drains in various places around Forrest Hall. Dr. Meyers helped the construction team tear out the old furniture of ‘C Wing’. Katie Thorne, Vice President for Student Affairs, and additional staff were also there to help the construction team on certain demolition days. Now that C Wing has been prepared for renovations, the construction team plans to remodel both the interior and the exterior of the building, with the addition of new windows. To accommodate for the temporary loss of living space in Forrest Hall, two male terraces were recently reopened.

Beginning this semester, there are three B Lots for Forrest residents to park:

-  The new gravel B Lot loop located by the pond and Gate Cottage

- The new gravel B Lot located between Forrest Hall and Timms Hall, across from the Communications Department

- The paved ‘B Lot’ located behind Forrest Hall. (This is where ‘B Lot’ has been located in previous years.

Please Note: Forrest residents may be assigned to park in ‘Bu’ Lot or in ‘B2’ Lot, located outside the Forrest Hall’s second-floor entrance. For access to additional information and media, check out Toccoa Falls College’s Transform Student Lives Campaign on GiveCampus.com
